Sounds like a CC merchant agreement violation...[ Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#1)

Given that Teleblend has merchant agreements with credit card companies, isn't attempting to go after the customer with another charge or by other means following a dispute (win or lose) a violation of the merchant agreement in and of itself???

I've always been under the impression that if I buy something with a credit card, I dispute, and I win that dispute, it's game over for the merchant. Suck it up, cost of doing business. Don't like it? You don't have to take credit cards... (But try running anything Internet-related by accepting only cash & checks...)

The funny thing is that by following Teleblend's rules on "disputes", and most certainly losing, I'm guessing that would strengthen the guy's case with the credit card dispute process. At least he jumped thru Teleblend's hoops, so he definitely contacted the merchant. An additional CC charge of $100 after a dispute would put the merchant agreement in jeopardy.

Ed, have you forwarded this info to any of your contacts at Visa/MC/AmEx? I bet they'd love to hear about it...

Depending on the state, this type of anti-consumer agreement may prompt someone who has both the willingness and resources to actually do something about it. Credit card companies don't do much about merchant agreement violations. Credit card minimums are prohibited, but fairly common. So is sticking "prices reflect cash discount" in the small print somewhere. As an individual consumer, the credit card companies may find in your favor and charge back the difference, but they'll let the merchant continue charge extra for those who don't complain.
