The runnling light allows a programmable sequence of 8 LEDs to 'chase' eachother in one direction. The effect is similar to KITT (from Knight Rider) but in one direction. You can set the leds to chase singularly, in any order inbetween or all eight (although that's pointless as they're all on). The speed is also controlled by a variable resistor.

This unit has been fitted into a Tekheads Laserbay (of which we'll be reviewing a production model later), however it could be mounted anywhere you feel it needs it.

First point, I've not taken enough photos (AGAIN), I'm sorry. Here's the packaging, the components came attached to this in a bubble pack. They were all knocking about in there unseperated, except the resistors which came on a standard reel.

The instructions are pretty simple to follow, giving a clear circuit diagram and locations of how you're supposed to install them. It even tells you (briefly) the right and wrong way to solder, plus most of it is pictorial, so even a complete dunce only has to worry about holding onto the cold end of the soldering iron.
